Is there anywhere that can explain the screen. Got bits of the car showing what looks to damage but having no effects from it. Or losing time in pit lane where it was fixed. Help

check before entering the race, what the difficulty is,

sounds like yours is on visual, so it looks damaged, and takes time to repair, but has no handling effect

the only things that can be damaged in race are the front wing and a tyre puncture, or in extreme cases (wrong gear box setting) an engine failure...
you can check how much tyres are worn in the pits before going on the track by going at the tyres and checking what % the tyres are at.
for the engine you can check the setup under engine and there you get a % of what the engine is giving out at that time (if the gears are set wrong, this will get lower because of the engine wear).
you cant check if the wing is damaged in the pits because that can only happen on track, and as soon as you pit (practice/qualy/race) the team will fix it and give you a time of how long it took to fix it (practice/qualy), in the race it just adds a few sec to your normal tyre change pit stop.
All set-ups were made with the following information:

Platform: Keyboard
Braking assist: OFF
ABS: ON
Traction Controll: FULL
Gearbox: Automatic
Rules and Flags: Realistic
Tyre Symulation: ON
Fuel Symulation: ON
Car Damage Symulation: FULL
AI Difficulty: Legend

Notes:
- All set-ups were made in Practice/Qualifying (depending on weather conditions).
- The gears may differ from car to car and from practice/race to qualifying...the thing to keep in mind is that i focused on getting the best qualifying time,
so turn them down to suit your car in practice (for the race) before you go off to qualifying.
