sounds like yours is on visual, so it looks damaged, and takes time to repair, but has no handling effect

you can check how much tyres are worn in the pits before going on the track by going at the tyres and checking what % the tyres are at.
for the engine you can check the setup under engine and there you get a % of what the engine is giving out at that time (if the gears are set wrong, this will get lower because of the engine wear).
you cant check if the wing is damaged in the pits because that can only happen on track, and as soon as you pit (practice/qualy/race) the team will fix it and give you a time of how long it took to fix it (practice/qualy), in the race it just adds a few sec to your normal tyre change pit stop.

i think that were you wrote cockpit thats actually the kers battries as a metter of fact when ever you get message kers not working that bit goes red untill problem is solved
